WorkSpace Utilization Report

Automatically analyzes the utilization of your Amazon WorkSpaces, identifies underutilized instances, recommends cost-effective compute types, and delivers a detailed report straight to your S3 bucket.

Usage Analysis

Evaluates connection hours, last-connected timestamps, and running mode costs across every WorkSpace in your account.

Underutilization Detection

Flags workspaces that haven't been connected recently or fall below defined usage thresholds — so nothing slips through the cracks.

Compute Recommendations

Recommends the most cost-effective compute type for each workspace — such as switching from AlwaysOn to AutoStop — with projected savings.

CSV Report via S3

Generates a detailed CSV and uploads it to your S3 bucket. A presigned URL is returned directly in the dashboard for instant, secure access.

Workflow

How It Works

01

Scan All WorkSpaces

Queries every WorkSpace in your AWS account, pulling connection data, running mode, compute type, and usage metrics via the AWS API.

02

Analyze Utilization

Evaluates each WorkSpace against utilization thresholds — checking hours connected, last active date, and whether the current compute type matches actual usage patterns.

03

Generate Recommendations

For each underutilized workspace, the report recommends a more cost-effective action — such as switching from AlwaysOn to AutoStop or downgrading the compute bundle.

04

Deliver the Report

A detailed CSV is compiled and uploaded to your S3 bucket. A secure presigned URL is surfaced directly in the WIC dashboard for instant download — no console-digging required.
